Mountain Monday

August 8, 2010
by budgettravelsac

With this past week’s “Travel Tuesday question of the week – beach or mountains?“, people were asked to share which they preferred and why.  For many , mountains were the favorite and for many reasons.  Because Twitter already has a beach Thursday, it’s time to make a Mountain Monday for the rest of us.

I admitted that I never grew up going to the mountains much.  And I have been to some of the best beach destinations in the world – Maui, Kauai, Myrtle Beach and Charleston (SC), Huntington Beach (CA), Florida, and Croatia.  As for mountains, I haven’t been to nearly as many – Lake Tahoe, Asheville and Boone (NC), Switzerland, and Slovenia.  So why a mountain monday?

No matter where I go, I love the peace and quiet of the outdoors.  It doesn’t have to be the mountains.  The countryside in a foreign country or a drive through a small town in California just gives me a relaxed, peaceful feeling.  I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way.

So here it is – #mountainmonday.  Dedicated to those who love the mountains, the outdoors, and the peace of nature.  Not every picture or article posted needs to be a specific mountain.  But getting away from it all is something we can enjoy together – without getting any sand in our shoes.
